In magic - what is a correspondence?

By WIZZY WITCH In simple language, magical correspondences are seemingly different things that are believed to be interconnected due to their shared similarities. Using correspondences in magical practice as oppose to just 'throwing stuff together' is believed to create an increase in energy, producing better results. Red for example corresponds with hot, fire, Mars, fever, Chilli, passion and so on. In magic, if you were to do a spell for a more passionate love life, you might use a red candle for passion, a pink one for love or an orange one for more energy! You may include heat-inducing herbs, and flowers that bloom in the hottest month or grow in the hottest places.

Tables of Magical Correspondences

A simple correspondence table could be a list of colors and their associated magical properties. A more complex one could be several columns relating days of the week with planetary movements, certain crystals, and so on.

The Power of Color Magic

Each and every color is filled with a force field of energy, and conveys an energetic meaning. Each of these colors corresponds to a magical essence or meaning, which are known as color magic correspondences in the magic community - or magick as it is commonly referred to distinguish it from magic tricks. Understanding how colors can be used to influence a situation supercharges your magic, and only you have to know how you are using them to help you.

Candle Magic 101

Candle magic is one of the earliest and simplest forms of magic around. Candle magic has been around for centuries and can be traced on ceremonies and rituals as far back as the Palaeolithic era. Interestingly, most of us have preformed candle magic without really consciously thinking about it. - Aug 21, 2010
